What is State Field Day?
It is an opportunity for 4-H members from all over California to come and compete in State Presentation Day, Interview contest, State 4-H Film festival and much more. Even if you don’t have a presentation, there are plenty of activities (especially for primary members) and competitions to make it well worth your while to attend.
Here’s a listing of all the other activities and events happening at State Field Day:

2017 State 4-H Fashion Revue: “The Road to Fashion”

LOCATION: Olson Hall, UC Davis
TIME: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Members qualify to enter SFR at their county Fashion Revue. Entry is by online registration only at http://ucanr.edu/sfr2017register . The entry deadline is Sunday, May 14 at 5:00 pm. Entries must be completed and submitted by this time to be considered. Entries will be confirmed by the SFR Registrar via email after entry is complete and eligibility is confirmed by the county.
The Interview Contest (http://4h.ucanr.edu/4-H_Events/SFD/Interview_Contest_/) :is a popular event that gives 4-H members an opportunity to practice the real-life skills needed to apply for a job. Participants prepare a resumé and cover letter for a job they choose from the 2017 Interview Contest Job Descriptions. Judges evaluate their performance during a mock interview and give constructive feedback using a standard evaluation rubric.):
– – Open to junior, intermediate and senior 4-H members
– – Pre-register online by 3:00 pm on May 12, 2017.
– – Registrants have until May 22, 2017 to email their resume and cover letter to Barbara Crane at BCrane@mtsac.edu.
State 4-H Plant Science Contest

Time: 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
No preregistration necessary.
The Plant Science Contest is organized into three parts: Judging, Plant Identification, and Written. It provides opportunities for youth to increase their knowledge of horticultural plants and horticultural/plant science techniques, expand their ability to identify various plants, and interact with other youth interested in plant science.

Who Can Participate: 4-H Members and Volunteers

10:00am- 11:30 am Submit design
12:00pm- 3:00pm Logo contest voting
– Please limit your design to three colors.
– Your design must include the 4-H clover and the text “California” and “2018 State 4-H Field Day.”
– Please use white paper no larger than 11″ x 17″.
– The selected logo will be displayed on the 2018 State Field Day webpage and other materials for the 2018 event. All of the designs will be displayed by 12:00 noon and everyone will have the opportunity to vote for the next logo.

Description: The California 4-H Photography Competition is designed to provide an opportunity for 4-H members (ages 9-19) to showcase their best photographs taken within the past 4-H year. There are no prior requirements to enter this state level competition. Awards will be announced at the State Field day.

2017 State 4-H Film Festival

Video is a medium that is both an art and a science. 4-H has been using video to promote various aspects of the program and recruit new volunteers and members. Join the members of the Educational Technology Advisory Committee at the State 4-H Field Day by participating in the 4-H Film Festival!
Deadline to register is May 19th by 5:00 pm.
– Videos must be submitted by by the deadline date with the online form.
– Videos must be uploaded to YouTube (recommended) or other video hosting website. Provide link in registration form. (How to upload onto YouTube)
– Video must be public or accessible via URL
4-H State Presentation Day, which is part of the annual California 4-H State Field Day

Members who received a gold seal at a sectional event are eligible to participate at the State 4-H Presentation Day for a Special Recognition pin. They must select a focus area when submitting their registration to be eligible for Special Recognition.
